FERNANDEZ -- JOE S. JR. Mr. Joe (Tata) S. Fernandez Jr., 77, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on January 23, 2006 peacefully at home with his family by his side. Mr. Fernandez is the beloved husband to Mrs. Connie Fernandez, married for 55 years. He is also survived by his children, Evelyn Fernandez and Johnny Garcia, Monica Ortiz and husband, Manuel, Angela Fernandez-Diedrich and husband, Richard, Sofia Elizabeth Moran, Kassandra (Sandi) Ray and husband, Jared, Mario Fernandez and wife, Linda, and Michael Heller; one brother, Frank Fernandez; 18 grandchildren, Jose and wife, Robin, Joaquin and wife, Kayola, Mateo and Tiana Candelaria, Leticia and husband Chris Montano, Manuel and wife, Monika, Jacque Ortiz, Salisha Morelos, Denine and husband, Adam Vaughn, Andrea and husband, Nathan Reese, Arnika, Matias, and David Diedrich, Elijah and wife, Veronica, Joshua and Nicole Fernandez, Sirena and Devin Ray; 24 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Mr. Fernandez was preceded in death by his brothers, sisters, and grandson, Anthony Morelos. Mr. Fernandez was a member of the Catholic Church and a Veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II and the Korean Conflict. A visitation for Mr. Fernandez will be Friday evening at St. Anne Catholic Church, 1400 Arenal SW from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. A final visitation will be Saturday morning at St. Anne Catholic Church from 8:30 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. by Father John Tourangeau. Cremation has taken place and burial of Mr. Fernandez's cremains will follow at the San Jose de Armijo Cemetery with Military Honors by the United States Army.
