VANLANDINGHAM -- Bob VanLandingham, born January 22, 1924 in Joplin, Missouri to Ed & Florence VanLandingham, passed away January 6, 2006. Bob moved to Socorro, NM in 1934 and married Mary (Jenny Sharp) on December 11, 1943. He and Jenny raised six children of their own plus four or five others, after he served as a Marine during World War II. They owned and operated a dairy farm in Socorro until 1960 when Bob became employed in the highway construction business. In the mid 60s, he settled the family in Ponderosa, NM. Bob became known to family and friends as Papa Bob. Papa started working in Alaska in the early seventies and retired in 1987 upon the loss of "Mem". Papa Bob will always be remembered for his great love of music. He passed this talent on to all of his sons, many of his grandkids, and tried to pass it on to even those who "couldn't carry a tune in a bucket". Papa Bob is survived by Tom VanLandingham and wife Barbara of Anchorage, AK; Bobby Sue and husband Pete of Ponderosa; Fred and Karron of Ponderosa; Deborah and Carl of Placitas; Eddie and Vivienne of Ponderosa; Sam and Rita also of Ponderosa. Bob was preceded in death by his loving wife, Jenny, his parents, and sister Joyce (JoJo) Sharp. He is survived by brother, Charles; sister, Gladys; grandchildren, Audie, Paul, Bobby, Jason, Ricca, Kelly, Wade, Sharman, Leslie, Tracy, Josh, Kevin, Jerrod, Holly, Austin, Amanda, Rachael, Cody, and Terri; 12 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and an innumerable amount of close friends. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 9, 2006 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Services will be held on Tuesday, January 10, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, with interment to follow at Sandia Memory Gardens.
