HILL -- Minnie Hill, a resident of Albuquerque since 1969, passed away on Monday, January 9, 2006 in an Albuquerque nursing home. She was born in Jersey City, NJ to the late Frank Granata and Sofia Lauria Granata. Minnie was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Joseph T. Hill on December 28, 2000. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Ida G. Church. Minnie is survived by her son William (Bill) Hill and his wife, Debbie of Peralta, and by her daughter Mary Carter and her husband, James of Carson, IA; four grandchildren, Kim, Michael, Jesse, and Joe; and many great-grandchildren. During World War II, Minnie was a dental assistant and tried to enlist in the military but was too short. She went on, undeterred in serving her country, by becoming a riveter on Grumman aircraft in Linden, NJ. After the war, she worked with the Scotch Plains, NJ Police Department. Upon moving to New Mexico, Minnie continued serving her community by working as an ambulance attendant in Valencia County. She loved her animals, gardening, and helping her neighbors. Thanks, Mom. We will miss you. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 12, 2006 at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel. A graveside service will be held at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, NM at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Humane Association of NM, Inc., 615 Virginia SE, Albuquerque, NM 87108.
