JOHNSON -- Phyllis A. Johnson of Oakland, NE, died in her home November 26, 2005. She was 77. She was born in Oakland on May 1, 1928, daughter of the late George V. and Florence E. Dolhanyk. Phyllis married Kenneth S. "Bud" Johnson of Oakland on April 16, 1949. During Ken's 36 years of employment with Hughes Aircraft Co., the couple raised five sons and changed addresses more than two dozen times. Phyllis designed and oversaw construction of several homes during her lifetime. Phyllis had her own catering business while the family lived in Williamsburg, VA, and was a realtor while living in Colorado Springs, CO and Albuquerque, NM. Four years after the death of her husband Ken in 1991, Phyllis relocated to Ft. Myers, FL. In 1998, Phyllis returned to her hometown of Oakland. She was a loving wife, mother and friend. She was active in church and community services her entire life, most recently by serving on the boards of the Oakland Heights Nursing Home Facility and the First United Methodist Church. Phyllis is survived by sons and daughters-in-law: Mike and Janet of Seattle, WA, Greg and Jane of Princeton, NJ, Patrick and Laurie of New Fairfield, CT, and Rick of Colorado Springs. She is also survived by twin granddaughters, Tristen Dawson and husband, Simon and Megan Johnson and fiance, Adam Kuchinski; and by two grandsons, Benjamin and Christopher Johnson; as well as her sister and brother-in-law, F. Ellen and Richard Shaw of Florissant, CO. She was predeceased by her brother, George V. Dolhanyk Jr. and her third son, Kenn S. Johnson. A Memorial Service and reception will be held Friday at 1:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Oakland. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her memory may be made to the Oakland Heights Nursing Home, South Engdahl Ave., Oakland NE, 68045 or the Red Barn Veterinary Clinic, 101 E. 10th Street, Oakland, NE 68045.
