GLEASON -- Bettie Claire Gleason was born in Gallup, New Mexico April 1, 1926 to Fred A. Baxter and Inez Fulfur Baxter. She spent her childhood in Taos, New Mexico. After her father passed away in 1937, she and her mother moved to Santa Fe, where she attended school at Loretta Academy. During WWII she worked at Luke Air Force Base in Phoenix, AZ in the airplane fuel tank and radiator repair department. After the war ended she moved back to Albuquerque, New Mexico where she married CV Henkle. She was widowed in 1960. Bettie and CV had two children, a son, Brian Dexter Henkle, deceased, and Deborah Lynn Henkle Matlock. In 1963 Bettie married, James H. Gleason, a local dentist. She worked with her husband for 18 years in his private practice. Bettie is survived by her husband, James H. Gleason, her daughter, Deborah Matlock, Craig Martin Gleason, Madge Marie and Jeffrey Roberts, her daughter-in-law, Cherlye Henkle. Her grandchildren, Kimberly Gray and her husband, Buster Gray, Kerri Henkle, Hannah, Andy and Sarah Gleason. She has nine great grandchildren, Chelsea and Shelby Gray, Gage and Eden Henkle, Raven, Curtis and Cora Clarye, and Mason Christian. Memorial service will take place on Tuesday, November 29, 2005 at 3:30 p.m. at French Mortuary- Westside Chapel with Paul Gleason, officiating.
