MARCUM -- Barbara Marcum, 60, passed away Saturday, November 12, 2005. Barbara was born on December 20, 1944 to Ralph and Vadis (Scott) Frost in Salt Lake City, UT. Reed and Mildred Lewis lovingly adopted her and her brother Gary on November 12, 1948, following the death of their mother in 1946. The Lewis' lived in Pocatello, ID, Minot, ND, Tripoli Libya, Rabat Morocco, and Kabul Afghanistan during Barbara's childhood. She moved to Albuquerque in 1961 in order to graduate from Highland High School in 1962. She attended Highlands University in Las Vegas, NM; returning to Albuquerque in 1964, for the rest of her life. Barbara worked at NM Blue Cross & Blue Shield for over 30 years. She attended the University of Phoenix, working toward her Bachelor's degree during this time. Barbara was active in the Upper Brazos Property Owner's Association for many years, serving as secretary most of that time. She was also active in the Chelwood-Vista Neighborhood Association, serving as secretary and treasurer. Upon retirement from Blue Cross & Blue Shield, she did genealogy research for her family. She was a member of the New Mexico Blue Star Mothers organization. She enjoyed spending time at the family cabin at the Brazos in Northern New Mexico, as well as her children and grandchildren. Barbara is survived by her daughter, Belinda Marcum of San Diego, CA; son, Darrell Marcum and wife, Deborah of Albuquerque; grandsons, Daniel Marcum, USMC in Iraq, Dustin and Duane Marcum; granddaughter, Chloe; long time friend, Dan Imrisek, all of Albuquerque; brother, Gary Frost Lewis and wife, Joyce of Richmond, VA; sister, Sandi Orlob of Phoenix, AZ; and various other nieces and nephews including nephew, Mark Lewis and family of Houston, TX, as well as many friends. She was preceded in death by her birth and adopted parents, nephew, Greg Lewis and her Aunt Wilma and Uncle Dick Rindahl. Funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m., Friday, November 18, 2005 at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd NE. Friends may visit French Mortuary on Thursday, November 17, 2005 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to Blue Star Mothers of America, Attn: Caroline Donnell, 13117 Manitoba Dr. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87111 or to the organization of your choice.
