HAVERSTICK -- Virgil Lee Sr. Passed away at his home in Albuq. on Oct. 22, 05. Born May 11, 1922 in Boise City, Okla. Resided in Albuq. for 64 yrs. Virgil was an artist, gallery owner, framer and woodworker. He was an inventor of several tools and accesories in farming and plastics. He had the "knack" of creating and adapting tools or equip. to the task, skills acquired by time spent alongside his father and mother, Ralph "Jake" and Fay. He loved the Southwest and its people. Virgil was a proud veteran of WWII and Korea serving in the AirForce as a communications tech. Upon leaving the military, He worked in heavy construction in Calif., Arizona and Nevada, settling in Socorro, N.M. where he became head salesman at Gibson Buick. Upon the death of his father "Jake", he moved to Albuq. and shortly thereafter opened Haverstick Gallery, assisting his mother Fay in framing the artworks of many local and world famous artists. Virgil is survived by his mother, Fay Haverstick; sister, Esther Nerhood of Cuba, N.M.; his loving wife, Silvia; and their son, Joe "Herrera" Haverstick; sons, Virgil Jr. and wife, Cathy of Las Vegas, Nev., Joe and wife, Shon of Mira Loma, CA. and Kris of Albuq.; daughters, Sharon Cantello and husband, David, Elana Denk and husband, Bryce of Las Vegas, Nev., Zoa D. of Golden, Colo. and K. Lee of Albuq.; Loving bro-in-law to Mike and Gloria Haverstick and Alejandra Herrera; Beloved "GRANDPA" of 17 GRANDkids, GreatGrandPA to 16 and loving Uncle to 19 Nephews and Nieces. Preceded in death by his father, Ralph Haverstick and sister, Thelma Howard. He leaves behind many friends OLD and New, but Cherished all. The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the Doctors and caregivers at Albuq. Veterans Hosp. and to the wonderful staff at Preferred Hospice of Albuq. Cremation and Inurnment entrusted to: Direct Funeral Services. A Memorial service will be held Saturday, 1 p.m., Oct. 29, 05 at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 2605 Foothill Rd. S.W. Albuq., N.M.
