ROY -- Edward Oliver Roy died at Kaseman Presbyterian Hospice on September 1, 2005 after a year-long battle with cancer. He was born February 16, 1932 in Penacook, N.H., to Joseph C. Roy and Elouise (Coulombe) Roy. After serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict, he married his wife of fifty years, Janice L. Lewis. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service for thirty years, then as a deputy sheriff for Merrimack County, N.H. before retiring to New Mexico in 1993. He was an avid golfer and enthusiastic collector of antiques and fine wines. He was proud of having researched and written a detailed genealogy of his French Canadian ancestry, and he and Jan loved visiting Quebec City. He was a devout parishioner at Our Lady of Fatima Church. Preceded in death by his parents and his brother Robert, he leaves his wife Janice; four children, Leslie Jenks of Albuquerque, Scott Roy and wife, Clarice of Ft. Worth, TX, Robin Aitkenhead and husband, David of So. Portland, ME, and Cynthia Roy and husband, Raul Rojas of Corrales. He also leaves five granddaughters, Alexandra, Emily, and Shelby Aitkenhead, Reilley Jenks, and Olivea Rojas-Roy; his sister, Anita Buttrick of Acton, ME; his brother, Norman Roy of Webster, NH; and seven nieces and nephews. Ed also leaves his best golf buddy, Jack Courtin, and his beloved turtle, Jacques. Cremation has taken place, with interment to follow at the Veterans' Cemetery in Boscawen, NH later in September.
