DUGUAY -- Walter Raymond Duguay 01/01/47 - 08/18/05 He finally decided to allow God to call him home after fighting the effects of a brain tumor for 15 months. This man is strong in his faith in God and Jesus Christ. He spent 20 years as a Franciscan brother. During that time he taught all grades - history, math, and his special gift of music. His baritone voice is mesmerizing and his fingers on the violin strings are electrifying. While teaching, he also conducted many choirs across the country, including The Cathedral of St. Francis of Assisi in Santa Fe, and at Metropolitan Community Church of Albuquerque. He is remembered as being very strict but loving and inspiring. In 1991, he obeyed the call of God and left the Franciscan order to work for the Archdiocese of Santa Fe as a layperson. He quickly became the Director of Human Resources for the Archdiocese and the Catholic Cemetery Association. In the decade that he served in that position, he was able to use his gifts to help the Employees and Management in many ways. He is a devout Catholic, and also believes that God allowed all the different Christian denominations to develop to help the rainbow diversity of mankind to learn about the Love of God and the redemption of Jesus Christ. Walter has always believed that less is more. He requested that he be cremated and that simple memorial services be held. There will be a Memorial Mass on August 31, 2005 at St. Joseph's on the Rio Grande, 5901 St. Joseph's Dr NW, Albuquerque, NM 87120. This Mass will be celebrated by Archbishop Michael Sheehan and will begin at 10:00 a.m. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on August 27, 2005 at Metropolitan Community Church of Albuquerque, 1103 Texas NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110. This Service will be celebrated by Rev. Judith Maynard and will begin at 6:00 p.m. A Life Celebration potluck will follow. Because of his belief in God's Love for all people, in lieu of flowers, Walter has requested donations be made to MCCA's building fund. Address above. God has now called Walter to join the heavenly Choir. We all know that Walter has already become the Choir Director. Walter will always be in charge. His Mother, Jeannette Peavey, Maine; sister, Dot Duguay, New Hampshire, sister, Alice Burrill, Maine, and his soul mate, Edrick McGowen, New Mexico, survives him.
