ESQUIBEL -- Juan De Los Reyes Esquibel, 93, passed away Thursday, July 7, 2005, surrounded by his loving family. Juan was born Sunday, December 17, 1911 in Alamosa, CO to Felicito and Adela Esquibel. He married Felipita Leonardita Sanchez (deceased 1977) in 1930. They resided in Velarde, NM where their union gave birth to seven sons and four daughters; John Richard (deceased), Charlie (Ruby), Ella (Phillip), Jimmy (Mary Helen), Rev. John Leroy, Barbara (Robert), Rosalie (Fred), Clarence, Walter (Rose Marie), Eddie (Vicki) and Marilyn (Manuel). In addition to his own sons and daughters, Juan and Felipita raised as their son, Victor Paiz (Amelia, deceased). He was preceded in death by his only beloved sister, Elvira Suazo of Alamosa, CO in 2005. He is also survived by nine half brothers and sisters. Juan was blessed to have 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-granddaughters. He married Lillie Wildenstein in 1978 (deceased 1997). He loved his life working in his orchards while maintaining a full time job as a heavy equipment operator for Lowdermilk. He enjoyed his involvement in politics and was a social advocate, fighting for a better standard of living for people throughout New Mexico. During his life, Juan expressed his gratitude to God for the blessing of family and his many friends throughout New Mexico and Colorado. Rosaries will be recited Saturday, July 9, 2005, 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE and Sunday, July 10, 2005, 7:00 p.m. at Risen Savior Catholic Community. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Risen Savior Catholic Community Monday, July 11, 2005, 1:30 p.m. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Mausoleum.
