MOORE -- Alvin Moore, Jr. passed away on June 17, 2005 at his home in Rio Rancho after a long illness. He is survived by his wife of fifty-one years, Aurora; his daughters, Teresa Collins and Marie Hansen; his sons, Patrick and Peter; and seven grandchildren, Christine, Michael, Daniel, Nathaniel, Alexander, Eva and Catherine. He was born in 1923 in Decatur, Georgia where he attended school. In 1941 he joined the United States Army Air Force and saw action over France and Germany in the 8th Air Force. Upon his discharge in 1945, he attended George Washington University. Upon his graduation, he went to work for the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. where he worked for thirty years. During this time, he was posted to New Delhi and Bangalore, India, and to Nairobi, Kenya and Karachi, Pakistan, where he was Field Director. He retired in 1980 and moved to New Mexico in 1987. Alvin Moore was a well known author and translator of numerous articles and books on comparative religion and the perennial philosophy. A Panikhida service will be at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 19, 2005 and funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:30 a.m. both at All Saints of North America Orthodox Church, 10440 4TH St. NW, with Fr. George Sondergaard, officiating. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, NM at 2:30 p.m. French Mortuary 9300 Golf Course Rd. NW (505) 897-0300
