GRAVES -- Albertina Graves left this world on Thursday, June 16, 2005 at the age of 93. She is survived by her daughters, Jane McKesson of Colorado Springs, CO and Judith Graves of Port Arthur, TX; daughter-in-law, Patricia Graves of Colorado Springs, CO; sister, Miranda Levy of Santa Fe; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Graves was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Graves. Mr. and Mrs. Graves lost their only son to cancer in 1990. She, formerly Albertina Masocco, was born in Feltre, Italy on April 20, 1912 to Mr. and Mrs. Angelo Masocco. The family moved to Gallup in 1921 and located in Santa Fe where Miss Masocco entered nurses training at St. Vincent's Hospital and graduated as a registered nurse in 1933. She met her future husband, Walter, in Santa Fe and they were married in May 1934. Albertina was an avid gardener and wherever they lived during her husband's career she transformed their yard into a thing of beauty and their home was always filled with blooming plants. She also loved to fish and her excitement, when catching a fish knew no bound. She always said that it really didn't matter if she failed to catch any fish since she so enjoyed the beauty of the stream and surroundings that she sometimes forgot what she was doing. She loved the outdoors with a passion and her garden was her cathedral where she always felt closer to God. Mrs. Graves moved to Village at Skyline in Colorado Springs in 2002. While there, she made many new friends, played bridge and continued her love of flowers by keeping her deck blooming with seasonal arrangements. Albertina was a dedicated mother and housewife who accepted the responsibility of raising a family and did a wonderful job. We will miss you, mom. Services will be held Monday, 10:30 a.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE.
