SANDERS -- Mertis Elizabeth Sanders, 97, died on Sunday, March 20, 2005. She is survived by her son, James E. Sanders; daughter, Patricia A. Nabavi, both of Albuquerque; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Mrs. Sanders was preceded in death by her husband, C.H. Sanders; son, Robert; and grandson, Daryush. She was a member of Del Norte Baptist Church, Order of the Eastern Star, where she was Grand Matron during the Golden Jubilee, member and president of the Women's Business Association, and President of the PTA. Mrs. Sanders was very active in her church in Tucumcari, NM, where she loved teaching Sunday School. Services will be held on Thursday, 11:00 a.m., Chester T. French Memorial Mausoleum Chapel at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE with Pastor David Redd, officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Friends may visit French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, Wednesday, 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association of NM, 7001 Menaul Blvd. NE, Suite 1-A, 87110.
