SMELTZER -- Jerry Lee Smeltzer, 61, passed away February 26, 2005 in Chicago, IL. He was born in Fort Wayne, IN and moved with his family to Albuquerque in 1948. Jerry graduated from Sandia High, attended UNM, and was active in Albuquerque Little Theater, Music Theater, and Rodey Theater. He lived briefly in San Francisco, CA where he attended college and then moved to Chicago, IL where he co-owned and operated, in partnership with Bert Corea, Paintin' Place and Decor Painting from 1969 until the death of Mr. Corea in 1983. He was an employee of the University Club of Chicago, 1984 - 2002. Jerry was also an independent film maker who documented notable activities of the 1960s and 1970s. Surviving family members are brothers, Robert (Avis), John A., Steven (Nora); and sister, Janice; nephews, Jason (Jennifer) and John E.; also Mera Wolf and Edward Goettler, all of Albuquerque; nephew, Ethan; and niece, Tressa of Chicago; and niece, Sarah of Seattle, WA. A Memorial Service will be held at First Unitarian Church, 3701 Carlisle NE, on Saturday, March 26, at 11:00 a.m.
