MANN -- Shirley "Jeanne" Mann of Albuquerque passed away peacefully at Presbyterian Hospital on Friday, March 4, 2005. Jeanne is survived by her loving husband and companion of 57 years, Robert "Bob" Chestly Mann. Those whom Jeanne also leaves behind include her daughter, Pam of Tijeras; granddaughter, Libby and husband, Chris; and son, Jeff of Tallahassee, Florida and his wife Kathy; and granddaughters, Emily, Lindsay and Kelsey. Jeanne was born in Memphis, TN on January 16, 1931, to the late George Raymond Burkhead and Jennette Elizabeth Burkhead (nee Reed) both of Memphis. Jeanne had one sibling, Louise Elizabeth Adams (nee Burkhead) of Atlanta, GA who also just recently passed away. Jeanne and Bob were high school sweethearts at Memphis Technical High School in Memphis and were married on December 26, 1950. A career US Air Force veteran, Bob had a wide variety of assignments so Jeanne, he and their children lived in a wonderful array of sometimes exotic - and sometimes not so exotic - locations such as Alaska, California, Japan, Kansas, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Nevada, New Mexico and Texas. When Bob retired from the Air Force, he and Jeanne surveyed the many places they had lived and chose Albuquerque as their favorite and have been there since 1973. Jeanne was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed all children, especially her own and her grandchildren. Jeanne's grandchildren always knew that throughout the year at every holiday and special occasion they would receive a treasure trove of wonderful mementos, arts, crafts and goodies from Grandma. Jeanne had a keen wit, a sharp mind, was a wonderful cook, kept a fastidious house, and enjoyed hobbies such as antiquing, collectibles, arts and crafts and interior decorating. While those of us who knew and loved Jeanne will sorely miss her, we are thankful for the time we had with her and the love, tears, but mostly laughter we shared. We are grateful that her passing was swift and peaceful as befitted the grace and dignity with which she had lived. According to Jeanne's wishes, she will be cremated on Tuesday, March 8, 2005 but no decision has yet been made regarding her final resting place. A private service among her immediate family and friends has already been held. Anyone wishing to make a charitable contribution in Jeanne's memory and on her behalf may do so to the American Heart Association, The Believer's Center 320 Waterfall Drive, SE, Albq. NM 87123 or the charity of their choice. French Mortuary 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE 275-3500
