CHAVEZ -- Lupe Chavez, age 94, born to Eliseo and Beneranda Castillo on December 24, 1910 passed away on Saturday, March 5, 2005. Lupe loved children and taught elementary school for many years. She also worked for the Los Lunas Training School. She is preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Santiago Chavez; and great-grandson, Nick Alfred Nieto. Lupe is survived by two daughters, Emily Olivas and her husband, Al; and Frances Romero and her husband, Mike; four grandchildren, Sandra Nieto, Santiago Olivas, Rowena Sanchez, and Theresa Baca; six great-grandchildren, Chasity, Cherise and Chantel Nieto, Armando Sanchez, and Nathan and Justin Baca; and many loving nieces and nephews. Lupe will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. There will a viewing at Romero Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, March 7, 2005 at 5:30 p.m. with a rosary following at 6:00 p.m. with Deacon Manuel Gallegos reciting the rosary. A visitation will be held at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church on Tuesday, March 8, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. with Father Stephen Schultz officiating. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Cemetery. Romero Funeral Home 609 N. Main St. Belen, NM.
