MARTINEZ -- Esperidion "Speedy" Martinez, age 96, passed away Monday, February 14, 2005. He was born and raised in Rancho Grande, NM, May 14, 1908. A resident of Corrales since 1946, he was the owner and operator of a logging truck. Esperidion retired from the State of New Mexico as a heavy equipment operator, and he was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church since 1938, where he served the Lord with all of his heart. He was preceded in death by his son, Pat Martinez and daughter, Dina Martinez, and he is survived by his wife of 71 years, Josefita Martinez; children, Porforio Martinez and wife, Lorraine, Samuel Martinez and wife, Virginia, Eli Martinez and wife, Mary, Isaac Martinez, Rachel Callihan, Lydia Herrera and husband, Joe; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; other family members and friends who loved and will miss him. Services will be held at Rio Grande Spanish Seventh Day Adventist Church, 5200 Iliff Rd. NW, with a Prayer Service on Thursday, February 17, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, February 18, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. with burial following at Sunset Memorial Park.
