GEALY -- Joanne Patricia Gealy, 77, a resident of Albuquerque, died peacefully in her home on Friday, January 7, 2005. She was born on Saturday, October 29, 1927, in Chicago, IL. Joanne is survived by her cousins and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, H. Peter and Myrtle Gealy. Joanne graduated from Muldon High School in Rockford, IL in 1945, received her B.A. from Sienna Heights College in Adrian, MI in 1949, and her Master's Degree from the School of Social Service Administration of the University of Chicago, in 1961. She worked in Chicago as a Psychiatric Social Worker before moving to Albuquerque in the mid 1960s. Joanne was employed by Bernalillo County for many years as a Social Worker. She was very proud of her Welsh Heritage and was a former member of both the Welsh Society of Albuquerque, and the National Association of Social Workers. Joanne was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, an avid reader, gardener, and a gourmet cook. She will be deeply missed by her friends. Mass will be celebrated Monday, February 7, 2005, 10:00 a.m., at St. Borromeo Catholic Church, 1818 Coal Pl. SE, with Father Joseph Tran, Celebrant. Interment will take place at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Chicago, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
