THOMPSON -- Frances S. Thompson, age 74, passed away peacefully while sleeping on December 16, 2004 under hospice care. She is survived by her husband, Owen Locke (Tommy) Thompson of Albuquerque, and her son, Blake Thompson of Albuquerque and Denver, CO. She is also survived by three brothers, Harry Starnes in Virginia, Harold Starnes and Carl Starnes in East Tennessee, a sister, Dorothy Viklund of Torrance, CA, and many nieces and nephews. Fran grew up in Baileyton, Tennessee and attended Tusculum College in Greeneville before working for the Dept. of Defense in Washington, DC. She moved to Albuquerque in 1952, where she worked for DoD and the Dept. of Energy. She met and married her husband in Albuquerque; their fiftieth anniversary would have been in May. After her retirement in 1990, she volunteered her time to the church, the American Cancer Association, and others who were in need. Her great humor and cheer and her concern for others throughout her own battle with illness was an inspiration to those around her, and she will be missed by all whose lives she touched. A memorial service for the deceased will be held at 11 a.m., Wed. December 29, at Asbury Methodist Church, 10000 Candelaria NE, Albuquerque, 299-0643.
