MOREJON -- Carlota Marta "Mamita" Morejon, 86, a resident of Albuquerque, died on Wednesday, November 24, 2004. She is survived by her daughters, Sara Sanchez and Marta Boydston and husband, Keith, all of Albuquerque; granddaughter, Jody Steele and husband, John of Mt. Pleasant, SC; grandson, Bryan Boydston of Albuquerque; great-granddaughter, Ella Steele; and niece, Lisette Lozano and husband, Frank of Davie, FL. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fabio Morejon, her parents, Calixto Augustin Laurent and Estela Primitiva Rojas and her brother ,Ramon Laurent. Carlota was born in Havana, Cuba, November 4, 1918. She met and married Fabio Morejon on October 7, 1944. Their two daughters were born there. Carlota and Fabio owned and operated a coffee distributing company, Monte Ruz, in Cuba. They sent their daughters to the United States on the Peter Pan Flights operated by Catholic Charities and in December of 1965 followed them to Albuquerque. They operated and owned Morejon Upholstery. Carlota was very active in the Cuban community. Her forte was cooking and sewing. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Friends may visit French Mortuary, Lomas Chapel, Sunday, November 28, 2004 from 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Services will be held at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd., on Monday, November 29, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menual NE. Pallbearers will be Keith Boydston, Bryan Boydston, David Schroeder, Scott Schroeder, Daniel Stansbery, and Ron Saint.
