DALEY -- Jean Shannon Daley, formerly of Albuquerque and Phoenix, died November 3, 2004 in Vancouver, WA. She was taken by a massive stroke while being held by her three daughters. She was born into the home of Roy and Jeanette Snelling on December 6, l923 in Gallup, NM. Jean was a graduate of Albuquerque High School, an enthusiatic member of the Sweet Adelines and a longtime volunteer at the VA Hospital in Albuquerque. After moving to Phoenix she attended Glendale Community College, became an activist for Planned Parenhood and later retired from Valley Radiologists in Phoenix. Until her health began to fail in 2002 she was employed by the Victims Assistance Unit of the DA's Office in Vancouver. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother. Robert T. Snelling; and her husband. Robert J. Daley. She is survived by her three daughters, Nancy Shannon and Peggy Shannon McCauley of Albuquerque and Toni Shannon Buck of Vancouver; her brothers. Hugh Snelling of California and Howard Snelling of Arizona; and her sister, Nancy Borkert of Albuquerque. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren who lovingly called her "Gigi." As she requested, her body has been donated to medical research at the Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland. There will be a springtime memorial gathering when the lilacs are in bloom after her ashes are returned to her family. They will then be interred next to those of her husband. Davies Funeral Service in Vancouver, WA was in charge of arrangements. "And now she will truly dance."
