SPEARS -- Helen Kay, beloved daughter, sister, and friend departed this life on November 9, 2004 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She was born September 28, 1956 in Fort Worth, Texas. Helen Kay was a 1975 graduate of Sunset High School in Dallas, Texas where she served as President of the Student Body. Helen Kay graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1980 where she was a member of Phi Mu sorority and the University Pom Pom squad. She was honored by being elected one of the ten most beautiful coeds at the University of Arkansas while she attended there. After graduating from the University of Arkansas Helen Kay taught school in the Little Rock, Arkansas area. She was a member of the Little Rock Junior League for five years. She then began her 10 year career with Southwest Airlines starting in Little Rock, Arkansas before moving to Albuquerque, New Mexico. Helen Kay was a dear and loving individual with a flair for the creative arts. She is survived by parents Helen Barrett Spears of Dallas, Texas and John T. Spears Jr. and Mary Spears of Irving, Texas. She is also survived by her sister Patricia Spears Thompson, brother in law Damon B. Thompson, and niece Megan Thompson of Coppell, Texas. She was predeceased by grandparents Gertie Bell Dalton Barrett, and Benjamin C. Barrett of Mansfield, Texas; and John T. Spears, Sr. and Marta Louise Spears of Ardmore, Oklahoma. A Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 16, 2004 in the chapel at Riverside Funeral Home at 6:00pm, 225 San Mateo NE, Albuquerque, NM 87108, 505-764-9663.
