SIERRA -- Mateo Sierra passed on to be with Our Lord on October 3, 2004. Mateo Sierra was born on September 21, 1918. He died peacefully under the loving watch of his family. He is preceded in death by his father, Guadalupe Sierra; mother, Clara Sierra; grandsons, Joseph Sanchez and Jesusito Prieto. He graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1938. He served in the Army Co. C 873rd Engineer Aviation Battalion and was stationed in the South West Pacific Area for four years. He worked for Lembke Construction Co. from 1955 to 1987 as a construction Superintendent and constructed many notable buildings in New Mexico. He is survived by Margaret Sierra; his daughter, Rita Saavedra; son, Raymond and wife, Theresa Sierra; son, Paul and wife, Sophie Sierra; daughter, Patty Sierra; son, Sammy and wife, Teresa Sierra; son, Jerry and wife, Kathy Sierra; brothers, John and wife, Dorothy Sierra, Lupe and wife, Annie Sierra, Mike and wife, Juanita Sierra; sisters, Mary and husband, David Trujillo, Elodia and husband, Herman Sanchez, and Virgie Castillo; and survived by 21 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. Visitation for Mr. Sierra will be held on Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Salazar & Sons Mortuary. A Rosary will be recited on Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, October 7, 2004 also at St. Francis Church where the Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
