BACA -- Levi E. Baca, 82, passed away at home, peacefully, surrounded by his beloved wife, son, and daughters on Sunday, October 3, 2004, after a long illness of Alzheimer's. He is preceded in death by a grandson, Keith Griego; and is survived by his wife, Alice of 58 years; son, Lee and wife, Kathy; daughters, Peggy and Debbie Baca, Lupe Rodrigues and husband, Ricardo; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by three brothers, Abraham, Fermin, and Adam Baca. Levi was a WWII Veteran and a Sandia Labs retiree. Prior to his illness, he was active in the choir of the El Buen Samaritano United Methodist Church. He was also a volunteer at the Store House and active in senior baseball, volleyball, and the fisherman's club. A Prayer service is planned for Tuesday, October 5, 2004, at 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel. A Church service will be held on Wednesday, October 6, 2004, at 10:00 a.m. at El Buen Samaritano United Methodist Church, 7th & Granite NW with burial following at Sunset Memorial Park. Pallbearers are Derek Baca, Chris Baca, Robert Baca, Albert Baca, Marvin Baca, and Marcelino Rodrigues. Honorary pallbearers are Gilbert Garcia and John Padilla.
