SANDOVAL -- Jacob (Jake) Sandoval born May 1st, 1914; to the Rev. Abel and Laura Sandoval, in Chamisal, NM. He was preceded in death by his brothers Abel, Lawrence, Bert, Harry and sisters Ruth, and Martha. Of his siblings, he is survived only by his oldest sister Shonita Kurtz. Graduated Menaul School in 1932. He atteneded York College (BS Organic Chem), on an academic scholarship, where he met our mother, Peggy. They were married September 24, 1939 and would have celebrated their 65th anniversary. He served in the medical corp in WWII, and as a German interpreter. After the war, he graduated from Highlands University in Las Vegas, NM (MS Organic Chem). He completed an ABD from the University of New Mexico while teaching in Los Lunas and received numerous favorite teacher awards. He was a Research Chemist at ACF in Albuquerque and Los Alamos Labs. In 1967, he was recruited by Pantex in Amarillo, TX as Senior Research Scientist, retiring in 1981. Jake is survived by his wife, Peggy; daughter Sylvia and husband Ken Harwood of San Antonio; son Stann & wife Wendy of Albuquerque; son Scott of Albuquerque. Also one sister Shonita Kurtz, granddaughter Rita Grosso & husband Bill and great grandson Gavin Boyce. Nephews Leroy Sandoval & wife Josie; Alex Martinez & wife Dorothy, George Carver & wife Bunny, Leslie Sandoval & wife Sandra, and Alex Sandoval. Nieces Laura May Randall & husband Ken; Leda & husband Larry Moreland, and Ruby Mae Williamson. Also many in-laws, and other friends, neighbors and loved ones. As a member of the Khiva Shrine in Amarillo and the Ballut Abyad Shrine in Albuquerque in lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Ballut Abyad Shrine's Children's Hospital Transportation Unit. The family would like to recognize and thank the staff at Presbyterian Anna Kaseman Hospice for their support and love during this very difficult time. Memorial services will be held Saturday, 2:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel. His remains will be interred at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
