FORD -- Walter D. Ford, Jr. (Dick), a long time resident of New Mexico, died September 7, 2004. Born May 16, 1921, in Mineral Wells, TX, to Nancy Ruth Spann and W.D. Ford, Sr., he was reared in Lawton, OK. He married Dorothy Helen Bowling in 1944, and they were active in Centenary Methodist Church in Lawton. After graduation from Oklahoma State University, he joined his father in the construction firm of W.D. Ford and Son in Lawton. Following retirement in 1975, he and his wife moved to the Jemez Springs area where they became active in the Jemez Springs Presbyterian Church. Dick was instrumental in raising funds for and the construction of a new sanctuary and classroom section of the church. He was a kind and loving man who loved his friends and family, being especially proud of his sons and daughters-in-law and their children. Survivors include his wife of sixty years and children: James Stephen and Jane of Oklahoma City, OK, William B. and Chris of Tulsa, OK, and Joseph A. and Marilyn, also of Tulsa. There are five beloved grandchildren: Bryan, Jennifer, Lisa, Karen, and Katie. Other survivors include many cousins who have always been close. The family wishes to extend special thanks to the entire staff of Laurel View Healthcare and all of the caregivers with VistaCare Hospice for their constant love and concern. A memorial service will be held at Jemez Springs Church on Saturday, September 11, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. Those who desire to send memorials may do so to Jemez Springs Presbyterian Church, Box 97, Jemez Springs, New Mexico 87025.
