GOODMAN -- Alan F. Goodman, 78, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Monday, August 16, 2004. Alan was born August 30, 1925 the son of Fredrick and Mildred Danzis Goodman in Bronx, NY. Alan grew up in the Bronx, and graduated from the High School of Science and went on to graduate with a Degree in Engineering from New York University. He was proud to have served in WWII in the US Army and was a recipient of two Purple Hearts, a Silver Star and Bronze Star. Alan moved to New Mexico with his wife, Mary in 1957. Prior to retirement, he spent over 35 years working as an engineer for several highway departments including the City of Albuquerque. He was extremely involved in many civic and community organizations including the implementation of Boy Scout Troop #174, member of the Paradise Hills Volunteer Fire Dept., the Lion's Club, Albuquerque Scale Modelers, Paradise Hills Civic association, and the All Saints Lutheran Church. He taught an aviation history class at the University of Albuquerque. Alan loved building scale models, military history, and was a collector of antique weapons. Alan was preceded in death by his wife, Mary in 1996. He is survived by two children, Katherine Ferdig and husband, Eric, and Peter Goodman and wife, Crystal, all of Albuquerque; one sister, Alice Goodman of California; and four grandchildren, John, Carl, and Sarah Glaspie, and Mathew Ferdig; and his beloved dogs, Sasha and Pia. A Memorial Service for Alan will be held on Saturday, August 21, 2004 at 5:00 p.m. at the All Saints Lutheran Church, 4800 All Saints Rd. NW, (Coors Rd. & Paseo Del Norte NW), in Albuquerque, with Rev. Phillip Wangberg officiating. It has been suggested that memorials in Alan's name be made to the Great Southwest Council, Boy Scouts of America, Rio Grande District, 5301 Office Blvd., Albuquerque, NM 87109.
