PEREA -- Rosaline Miera Perea, 74, passed away Monday, August 16, 2004 after a long illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mel "Archie" Perea; her son, Mell Thaddeus Perea; her parents, Stephen Maurice and Carmen Baca Miera; and her brothers, Steve and David Miera. She was a graduate of St. Mary's High School in 1946 and the Regina School of Nursing in 1949. She was a dedicated pediatric and newborn nursery nurse at St. Joseph Hospital for over 30 years. Not only did she care for her babies, but whenever any family member was in the hospital she was there for them too. A devoted Roman Catholic, she volunteered at St. Therese Catholic School helping the sisters keep the immunization records of students updated. She is survived by her children, Karen Louise Perea; Gordon Michael Perea (Elsie); Andrea Marie Lancaster (William); Judith Ann Coggins (Tom); Teresa Lynn Espinosa (Steve); Christine Marie Saylor (Dave); Stanley Ross Perea (Toni); and Erika Lynn Ferraro; grandchildren, Claudie Chavez (Erica); Sheila Sisneros; Doug and Bill Lancaster; Tim Coggins; Steve, Nick, and Andrew Espinosa; Jessica and David Saylor; great-grandchildren, Paul Michael Sisneros; Desiree, Gabriel and Marcus Chavez; Jaden Lancaster; Gracie Sanchez; sisters, Lucille Catherine Miera (Vito); Edna Frances O'Loughlin; Patricia Evelyn Young (Ted); and Antonia Norene Light (Bud). Viewing and visitation for Mrs. Perea will be held Thursday August 19, 2004 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. in the Palm Chapel of Strong-Thorne Mortuary. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday August 20, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. in St. Therese Little Flower Church with Fr. Michael J. Shea, celebrant. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery with Stanley Ross Perea, Thomas Coggins, Steven Espinosa, Douglas Lancaster, William Lancaster, David Saylor, and Claudie Chavez serving as casket bearers.
