GRAMMER -- Allie Maurine Parker Grammer, a resident of Albuquerque since 1926, passed away Sunday afternoon June 20, 2004. Maurine was born on December 7, 1903 in Kansas City, Missouri to John H. Parker and Julia West Parker. She was preceded in death by her husband David A. Grammer in 1959, a brother Chester Parker, and a sister, Helen Parker Hall. Maurine attended Stephens College and the University of Wyoming. A retired Albuquerque Public School teacher, she received her BA and MA degrees from the University of New Mexico. After retiring she concentrated on her Fine Arts and Indian Arts appraisal work, writing books for children. She also wrote many feature articles for magazines. Mrs. Grammer is survived by her son, David A. Grammer, Jr. and wife, Mary Elizabeth; grandson, David A Grammer, III and wife, Patricia Monaghan; Margaret Grammer Gay and husband, Remo Gay; Mary Katherine Grammer; Patricia Grammer Eskew and husband Mike and three great-granddaughters, Carmen E. Grammer of San Benito, TX, Eileen Nicole Eskew and Kelly Danielle Eskew of Albuquerque. A memorial service will be held Thursday, 2:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel. Interment will be private. The family suggests in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Salvation Army, 501 Broadway Blvd. SE, 87102 or the Store House, 106 Broadway Blvd. SE, 87102.
