LAFONT -- James LaFont joined our Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 20, 2004. He was a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church and graduated from NMMI Junior College in 1994 with an Associates Degree. He attended UNM and was working on his Bachelors Degree in Business Administration. He managed Desert Hills Apartments for 7 years and worked for LaFont Trucking, LLC for many years. James was a fun loving son, brother, and friend and will always be remembered for his beautiful smile and great sense of humor. James was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Cedelia Martinez; his paternal grandparents, James LaFont and Reba Wrather. He is survived in death by his parents James and Juanita LaFont; his brother Mark and his sister Carla LaFont all of Belen; his maternal grandparents, Carlos and Frances Martinez of Taos, N.M. He is also survived by many uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends. All services will take place at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church on Monday, May 24, 2004 with a visitation at 6:45 p.m. and rosary at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the Cerro New Mexico Catholic Cemetery at a later date.
