HAMILTON -- E. F. (Gene) Hamilton, 93, passed away after a long illness. He was a native of Columbus Ohio and a resident of Rio Rancho for the last 6 1/2 years. He was a graduate of Ohio State University and captain of the Ohio State Baseball Team. He retired from the Columbus Bolt Works and was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He is survived by his sister, Rita C. Hamilton currently living in Rio Rancho; his daughter, Susan and husband, Gus Lopez of Albuquerque; his son, Dr. James Hamilton M.D. and wife, Janet of Colorado Springs; three grandchildren, Andy Lopez, Issac Lopez and wife, Kristi, and Felicia Lopez. He also has 6 great-grandchildren Issac Jr., Caleb, Courtney, Savannah and Monet Lopez of Albuquerque and Brittany Lopez of Dallas, TX; and nieces and nephews. Gene was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 51 years, Mary Etta Cann, his mother, Rose and father, Homer; his sisters, Bea, Mary, Dorothy, Betty, Geri and brother, Norbert. Rosary will be recited 7:00 p.m. on Monday at French Mortuary-Westside Chapel, 9300 Golf Course Rd. NW with visitation from 4:00 p.m. until time of rosary. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday at 10:15 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Columbus, Ohio. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Lockbourne, Ohio.
