TAFOYA -- Sophie S. Tafoya, 75, went home to be with the Lord on May 16, 2004 with her loving family by her side. She was born on May 17, 1928 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Sophie was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church, member of the Altar and Rosary Society and a CCD Instructor. She was also a retired cafeteria manager with A.P.S. She is preceded in death by her husband Mark Tafoya and her sisters, Becky Guelfi and Cora Martinez. Sophie is survived by her son Mark A. Tafoya Jr.; daughter, Marilyn Tafoya and David Padilla; her grandson, Steven Tafoya and wife Kathryn and her great grandchildren, Angel Tafoya, Johnathan Tafoya and Stevana Tafoya; brother, Roland Saavedra and wife Annie; sisters, Mollie Sedillo and husband Vincent, Oralia "Lala" Davis and husband Bill and Ronnie Studerus and husband Ted; brother-in-law, Alfi Guelfi; special Goddaughter, Patricia Grado. Sophie will be deeply missed by her loving family. A Memorial rosary will be recited on Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. at St. Anne Catholic Church. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m. also at St. Anne Catholic Church. The family will have a private inurnment which will take place at later date.
