BARELA -- Mary Stella Barela, 69, a resident of Albuquerque, died Monday, May 17, 2004. She is survived by her devoted husband of 46 years, Eloy Barela of Albuquerque; son, David Barela of Dallas, TX; daughters, Bernadette Barela-Brown and husband, Richard of Denver, CO, and Diane Barela Zaiter and husband, Larry of Attleboro, MA; son, Brian Barela and wife, Robin of Forney, TX; ten grandchildren, Andrea, Patrick, Paul, Victoria, Stephanie, Nicholas, Lauren, Drew, Lance and Curtis; sister, Margaret Chavez and husband, Henry of Albuquerque; brother, Bennie Chavez and wife, Fran of Dumfries, VA; brother, Robert Chavez of Albuquerque; sister-in-law, Evelyn Chavez of Scottsdale, AZ; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Elvira Chavez; and two brothers, Paul and Candido Chavez. The Lord has called our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother home and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She was a longtime parishioner at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church. Cremation has taken place. Memorial Mass will be celebrated Thursday, May 20, 2004, 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Lomas at Tennessee NE. Interment of cremated remains will take place at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 5800 Lomas Blvd. NE, 87110.
