MONTANO -- Louis (Louie) Montano, Jr. went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 10, 2004. Louie lived the final year of his life doing what he loved best - playing golf; being with family, especially the light of his life, Jaden Marie Montano; & fighting the cancer that took him from us. Louie was born August 6, 1948 in Magdalena, NM, grew up in Albuquerque & graduated from Rio Grande HS in 1967. After attending UNM for a year, he enlisted in the Navy & served his country in Vietnam Completing his tour in the Navy, he returned to Albuquerque to resume his place in his family - always helping. Louie was preceded in death by his father, Louis Montano, Sr. in 1974. He is survived by his mother Onice Montano, two sons Keith & Kenneth, & the light of his life - granddaughter, Jaden Marie. Oldest son of eight children, he is survived by his siblings, Dorothy Montano, Tommy Montano-wife Carmen, Nancy Montano, Donna Starustka, Joey Montano-wife Rita, Charles Montano, & Michelle Gendron-husband Dave. Also, surviving are his maternal aunt, Lena Chavez-husband Eddie, & paternal aunts & uncles, Frances Sanchez- husband Eloy, Santiago Carrillo surviving husband of Auntie Nana, Clorinda Montano surviving wife of Lino & Mela Montano surviving wife of Ernesto. His large & loving family includes numerous nieces, nephews, & cousins. He also leaves behind his life long friend & golf partner, Ken Corazza & many other friends whose lives he touched. The family can be visited & contacted at his mother's home. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Tuesday, May 18, 2004, at Our Lady of Guadalupe located at 1860 Griegos Rd. NW, followed by a military burial at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe at 3:00 p.m. A reception will proceed after the burial service at New Life City located at 4830 Pan American Fwy. NE, in Albuquerque. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the APS Celebrity Golf Extravaganza that benefits middle school athletics, a tournament that Louie participated in annually. Louie is teeing off on hole #1 - the greatest golf course in heaven!
