SHIPMAN -- Marlan Leon Shipman, 61, a lifelong resident of New Mexico, died Friday, May 14, 2004. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Sarah Shipman of Albuquerque, NM; sons, Randy Shipman, and Russell Shipman of Scottsdale, AZ, Jimmy Lee Shipman and wife, Barbara of Carlsbad, NM; daughter, Marlene Bruce of Albuquerque, NM; grandchildren, Tylor Shipman, Newton Maddox, Melinda Shipman, Nicole Bruce, Travis Bruce, Ashley Shipman and Aaron Shipman; fathers, John Weldon Shipman of Grand Prairie, TX, and Herman Harper of Anthony, NM; sister, Darla Smith and husband Bill of Albuquerque, NM; brother, Johnny Melvin Shipman and wife Alea of Albuquerque, NM and numerous other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother Wanda Harper. Marlan was born in Albuquerque, NM and raised in Mountainaire. He graduated from Mountainaire High School in 1961. Marlan and his father owned a Mobile Oil Distributorship in Mountainaire for several years. After that, they started Kachina Traders Jewelry Company from which Marlan branched off as owner and operator of K.T. Jewelers for 25 years. He loved fishing and hunting. He was baptized into and a member of First Christian Church. Marlan was a beloved husband, father and grandfather who will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Services will be held Monday, May 17, 2004, 11:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd N.E. Albuquerque, NM, with Pastor Brian McCracken officiating. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. N.E.
