KRUGER -- N.J. "John" Kruger, 93, a resident of Albuquerque died at home on Sunday, May 9, 2004. He is survived by his daughter, Bonnie Kelly and husband, Hank of Albuquerque; four grandchildren, Warren Kelly of Taos, Rachel Robinson, and husband Paul of Albuquerque, Amy Kruger Powe, and husband Bill of New Orleans, LA and Michal Sharon Kelly of Albuquerque; and three great-grandchildren, Bryce and Thomas Robinson, and William Powe. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth (Betty) Kruger and his son, John Byron Kruger. John was born March 15, 1911, in New Mexico Territory. During his formative years, his family homesteaded throughout New Mexico and Oklahoma. A graduate of the University of Oklahoma School of Engineering in 1935, John returned to New Mexico to participate with the design of buildings at both Los Alamos and Sandia National Laboratories, working closely with Willard Krueger. All the while, he returned for planting and harvest on homesteads in Richland, County, Oklahoma. In 1955, John and architect Gerald Lake formed a partnership that evolved into the firm of Kruger, Lake, Pogue, Hutchinson and Brown in Albuquerque. Upon retiring, John Kruger enjoyed cultivating a large garden at his North Valley home, while keeping an office well into his 90's. Cremation has taken place and graveside services will be Thursday, 10:30 a.m., at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. A memorial service will follow in Oklahoma City.
