WATSON -- Ellsworth B. Watson passed away on April 28, 2004 at the age of 96. He was born June 5, 1907 in Denver, Colorado, the son of Ralph LeRoy Watson and Lena Mae Bowman. Mr. Watson graduated from East High School, Denver, CO, in 1926. He then attended the Colorado School of Mines and earned a BS in Metallurgy in 1931. Mr. Watson was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity, ROTC, and the Editor of the school's Prospector Newspaper. Upon graduation Mr. Watson worked for the Jones and Laughlin Steel Mills in Aliquippa, PA. During World War II Mr. Watson served as 1st Lt. in the 5th Army and was stationed on the Aleutian Islands in Alaska. Mr. Watson was employed by Mountain Bell for 37 years before retiring in 1972. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers and was very active in his church and with the Braille Service of New Mexico. Mr. Watson was a 32nd degree Mason and a Shriner. Mr. Watson was preceded in death by his first wife, Nancy Mather Brown, his second wife, Dorothy N. Glubranson, and a son, Ralph LeRoy Watson II. Mr. Watson is survived by a son, Ellworth B. Watson, Jr. of Santa Fe and wife Betty, a daughter Barbara Werner of North Richland Hills, TX and husband Fred. Six grandchildren: Keith Watson, Charles Watson, Robert Watson, Catherine Watson, Christin Werner and Susan Werner. 6 great grandchildren: Estevan Montoya, Desire Montoya, Hunter Watson, Chelsea Watson, Ryan Watson and Sydney Werner. A Memorial Service was held Tuesday, May 11, 2004, 10:00 A.M. at St. John's United Methodist Church in Santa Fe. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Johns United Methodist Church - Organ Fund. .
