DIAZ -- Hector L. Diaz, age 49, of Los Lunas entered eternal life Saturday May 8, 2004 at Anna Kaseman Hospital in Albuquerque. He was born December 1, 1954 in El Paso, Texas to Bernie S. and Mary Lopez Diaz. At the time of his death, Mr. Diaz was employed with the Albuquerque Public Schools in the maintenance department. Hector was an avid outdoorsman and fisherman as well as a member of the National Archery Association, Rocky Mountain Elks Association and was an Archery instructor for the Hunter Education. Survivors include is his loving wife, Alice Gandara Diaz of Los Lunas; four sons, Manuel G Torres and wife Aimee of Los Lunas, Narciso G. Torres and wife Lila of Central, Jesse G. Diaz and wife Isela of Los Chavez, and Tony Jaramillo of Arlington, Virginia; one daughter Irene Diaz Martinez and husband Joe, of El Paso, Texas; his parents, Bernie S. and Mary L. Diaz of La Mesa; two brothers, Gilbert L. Diaz and wife Sylvia, and Bernie L. Diaz Jr. and wife Cecilia, all of Las Cruces. Other survivors include five loving grandbabies Keana, Renee, and Narciso Torres Jr., Jazmine and Juztine Diaz, who he spent time teaching them how to fish and camp. Visitation for Mr. Diaz will begin at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, May 13, 2004 in the Chapel of Prayer of Baca's Funeral Chapels, 300 E. Boutz Road where the Prayer Vigil is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. Family and friends will join together to celebrate the Funeral Liturgy at 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 14, 2004 in San Jose Catholic Church in La Mesa with Reverend Luis Macias officiating. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in the San Jose Cemetery where he will be laid to rest. Serving as casket bearers will be Narciso G. and Manuel G. Torres, Jesse G., Israel and Bernie Diaz III, and Andrew Nathaniel Madrid. Honorary bearers will be his friends and family members. Service arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Baca's Funeral Chapels, 300 E. Boutz Road, Las Cruces. 527-2222.
