BENGE -- Eula Ray Benge passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on May 9, 2004. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Don L. Benge, of Waxahachie, Texas, daughters Sharron Benge-Hartley and spouse Michael, of Waxahachie, Texas, Tina Roxan Benge Anderes and spouse Robert, of Arlington, Texas, Holly Benge Bernal and spouse German, of Mallorca, Spain, and son, Michael Ray Benge, and spouse Debra, of Cherry Hills Village Colorado. Ray was born on September 22, 1930 to Ralph Melbourne and Eula Ernestine Wilson Melbourne. She was preceded in death by both her parents and her step-father Carl Schlick. She is also survived by her brothers Ralph Melbourne and spouse Maxine, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Carl Michael Schlick and spouse Julie, of Placitas, New Mexico, and grandchildren Candice, Kirsten, Reagen, Kathleen, Allison, Rachel, Ryan, Avery, Mark and Alex. Ray graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1948 and attended the University of New Mexico, where she was a member of Chi Omega Sorority. She married Don in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1951 and moved with him to Jamaica after their marriage. They returned to live in Hobbs, New Mexico, before moving to El Paso, Texas where they lived for 23 years, while raising their family. She was a licensed pilot who loved to travel with her husband. A loving and dedicated wife, mother and sister, she also participated in civic organizations; including the El Paso Garden Club, El Paso's Child Guidance Center and Thomason General Hospital Emergency Room Volunteers. Ray moved to Waxahachie, Texas in 1983, and was a patron of the Dallas Symphony Association, the Dallas Zoo and a supporter of The Oakridge School, Arlington, Texas. She was a member of St. Paul Episcopal Church, Waxahachie, Texas. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m., May 13, 2004 at St. Paul Episcopal Church, Wasahacie, TX., 624 Ovilla Rd., Waxahachie, TX with Rev. Jerry Hill officiating.
