VALVERDE -- Elvin A.Valverde, age 72, of Las Vegas, NV, passed away February 28, 2004. A former resident of Albuquerque, NM, he was born October 14, 1931 in Trementina, NM. He was preceded in death by his father, Patricio; mother, Amy; sisters: Doris Medina, Marcella Fratzola; and brother Patricio, Jr. Elvin is survived by his wife, Marilyn, of 53 years; his children: Elvin Jr. (Jennifer), David (Renee), and Lisa Wymer (Steve). He was a loving and playful grandfather to LeeAnn, Jacob, Nicole, Gabby, Michael, Garrett and step-grandchildren, Ralph, Chantel, Bridget and Josh. Elvin is also survived by sisters: Leota Romero, Vern Gonzales, Edna Fowler, and Irma Peter; brothers-in-law: Joe Medina, Tony Fratzola, Albert Gonzales, Tom and Russ Williams; and sisters-in-law: Patricia and Patsy Williams, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and his favorite yellow lab, Ashley. Elvin spent his life working in the civilian sector and for the government at Mare Island Naval Shipyard as a sheet metal mechanic working on several nuclear submarines. He was a dedicated family man who took pride in providing for and protecting his family. Services will be held on Friday, March 5, 2004, 1:30 p.m. at Berardinelli Family Funeral Service in Santa Fe with burial services to follow at 3:00 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
