NELSON -- Mary J. Nelson, a resident of Los Lunas, New Mexico passed away on February 28, 2004. She was the world's greatest mom. Mary was a teacher at Rio Grande High School in Albuquerque and also taught school in South Dakota. She was a lover of animals. Mary is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Howard Markel; her son, Hugh L. Markel; and her sister, Agnes. She is survived by her son, Drew Markel and his wife, Nina Otero Markel; four grandchildren, Mandie and Michael Evans, Corey Markel, and Courtney De La Rosa; an aunt, Jo Haggartty; and sister Betty Amdie. Many thanks go out to all who have prayed and supported us through this time. With the utmost respect for her wishes cremation has taken place. There are no services scheduled at this time.
