SNAPKA -- George "Philip" Snapka December 4,1939 - February 2, 2004. To our beloved husband, loving dad and granddaddy, After a short, severe illness, you have left us for a more peaceful place where there is no pain. Your strength, humor, compassion, integrity, and love will live on through all of us. We will forever miss you. We love you. Becky; your children; and your grandchildren. Philip's first love was his wife and family. He enjoyed nothing more than being surrounded by his children and many grandchildren. He was known as the Fix-It Man, plumber, electrician, and mechanic for the entire family. He cared deeply for the beauty of nature and spent many hours fishing, hiking, camping, and photographing the great outdoors. He and his wife loved to travel. He was a businessman associated with the trucking industry for over 40 years. He was fair and respected as a friend, co-worker and manager. Philip was well known for his generosity and volunteer work, a champion of those less fortunate, and a man who quietly performed many charitable acts with no thought of acknowledgement or recognition. Philip approached the end of this life telling all that his life had been many times blessed and that his "cup runneth over". He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Becky, and his children, Cheryl Clark and husband, Bob of Rio Rancho, NM, Robin Wiegand and husband, Dwayne of Orange, TX, Greg Snapka and wife, Cindy of Albuquerque, NM, and Audrey Sullivan and husband, Daniel of Ramstein, Germany. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Josh, Leslie, Trenton, Stephanie, Matt, Adam, Joseph, Brittany, Jordan, Matthew, Kristin, Audrey Lynn, and Jolene; a brother, Gary Snapka; sister, Kay Grubbs; soul brother, Bob Wylie; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandson, Brian A. Cremation has taken place. A Rosary will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. with a Memorial Mass held on Friday, February 6 at 2:00 p.m., both at Risen Savior Catholic Community, 7701 Wyoming Blvd NE. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions in Philip's name to the American Cancer Society, 5800 Lomas Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110.
