POOLE -- W. J. "Bill" Poole, 83, a resident of Albuquerque since 1954, died on Friday, January 23, 2004. He was preceded in death by his wife, of 57 years, Helen. They traveled extensively throughout the world for the first few years following their retirements. Since his retirement from Sandia National Labs in 1984, he also began volunteering as an Ombudsman with the New Mexico Senior Affairs Office. He sang with the Enchanters for many years and was an avid golfer. Bill is survived by his children, Dan Poole and wife, Debra, of Albuquerque, Marie Wood and Paul Jeffrey, of Albuquerque, Michele Simpson and husband, Bill, of Rockaway Beach, MO and Laura Taylor and husband, Greg, of Rio Rancho, NM; grandchildren, Vincent Wood, Michael Wood and wife, Kaylene, Gemma Wood, Yvette McClelland and husband, Paul, Beth LaDouceur, Don Simpson and wife, Jessica, and Chris Poole; and 5 great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held Friday, January 30, 2004, at 3:30 p.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
