JANETAKOS -- Niki Manolakou Janetakos, 90, a resident of Albuquerque since 1938 passed away January 25, 2004. She was born on April 20, 1913 in the idyllic town of Gythion, Port of Sparta, in Southern Greece. She attended school in Gythion, and the University of Athens. In 1938 she married her late husband, William, from Albuquerque who was visiting his native country with the Greek American organization AHEPA. In September 1938 they came and settled in Albuquerque where their only child was born. She had many friends who she was proud of. Her family was one of the few Greek-American families in Albuquerque who founded the St. George Greek Orthodox Church in the early 1940's. She was a member of the Philoptohs Society (Friends of the Poor), the Church Women United, the YWCA, and other charitable organizations. She is survived by her son George of Albuquerque; sister-in-law Olympia Manolakos of Athens, Greece; niece Maria Gregori and her husband Enrico of Florence, Italy; many other beloved relatives and friends. A visitation will be held on Thursday January 29, 2004 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in Palm Chapel of Strong-Thorne Mortuary. Trisagion will follow at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Friday January 30, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 308 High SE, Fr.
