DELONGE -- Col. Merrill E. DeLonge, USAF (Ret.) 98, a resident of Albuquerque since 1991, died Wednesday, January 21, 2004. He is survived by his daughters, Vicki Weiss and husband, Chris of Sandia Park and Gael DeLonge, DVM and husband, Fred Fisher of Mount Solon, VA; grandchildren, Bryan Weiss and wife, Jeneane and their sons, Joshua and Zachary Weiss, all of Tijeras and Eric Weiss and wife, Kat of California; sister, Eleanor Pettis of Holland, MI; and brother, Kenneth DeLonge and wife, Rachel of Essex, CT. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Joy Lee DeLonge in 1998. Mr. DeLonge served 28 years in the US Air Force as a pilot and staff officer. He graduated as pilot, 2nd Lieutenant in February 1932. He graduated from Michigan State in 1928, majoring in Landscape Architecture and became a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects in 1963. Mr. DeLonge became a watercolor artist in 1981 and exhibited his works in galleries and had numerous shows in Texas and New Mexico. Services will be held Tuesday, January 27, 2004, 3:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, with Full Military Honors. Cremation will follow services. Friends may visit French Mortuary one hour prior to service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross, 142 Monroe NE, 87108, Joy Junction, 4500 2nd St. SE, 87105 or Retired Officers Association.
