JONES -- Alta Lavina Jones, 94, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on January 9, 2004. She is survived by her four sons, Charles Jones of Albuquerque, NM, James Jones of Medina, TX, Theodore Brackett of Albuquerque, NM and Donald Brackett of Taos, NM; step-daughter, Lavita Hill of Manchester, CT. Alta came to New Mexico in a covered wagon on June 16, 1915 from Lamar, Oklahoma. She homesteaded near Clayton, NM. Her father helped build the first school in Gladstone, NM. She was a longtime active member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church. Graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, 924 Menual Blvd. NE, with Rev. Robert Woodruff and Rev. Jaime O. Quinones officiating. Friends and family may visit French Mortuary - Westside Chapel on Saturday, January 17, 2004 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. French Mortuary 9300 Golf Course Rd. NW (505) 897-0300
