ADKINS -- Gerald Patrick Adkins, January 26, 1937 to December 10, 2003 Gerry died of cancer at his home in Seattle, WA on December 10, 2003 at the age of 66. Gerry leaves behind loving family members: mother Wynona Adkins, Seattle, WA; son Mark Adkins & Mark's wife Tanya Adkins, and grandson Benjamin Adkins, Issaquah, WA. Gerry will be missed. Gerry was known in the architectural community in Albuquerque in his formative years as a student. Gerry worked for architect, Joe Boehning, in summers and after graduation, for Flatow Moore Bryan and Fairburn. He considered both as being among the finest of architecture firms. Gerry earned his Bachelor of Architecture degree at the University Of New Mexico. Gerry practiced architecture for WMFL Architects (later known as Integrus Architecture) in Spokane, WA, and became principal in charge of design. He was responsible for numerous award winning projects including The Spokane Opera House and Convention Center and the Farm Home Credit Banks of Spokane. His work also included a number of national awards for energy conscious design. Gerry taught architecture for one year as distinguished visiting Architect in Residence at the University Of Idaho during 1976. Gerry married Katherine Dunbar in New Mexico in 1966 and son Mark was born later that year. Gerry and his family moved to Spokane in 1969, where Gerry lived and practiced architecture until just after the marriage ended in 1982. He then lived in Anchorage, AK for a couple years, and finally Seattle, WA, having practiced architecture in both cities. Gerry was a devoted parent to Mark, a devoted son to widowed mother Wynona, and will be missed deeply by close friends, who considered Gerry to be a unique and intelligent individual. Cremation will be conducted by Bonney-Watson. Memorial service and no host lunch will be held at 11:15 a.m. on Thursday December 18, 2003 in the Private Dining room of the 67 Restaurant in the Edgewater Hotel, 2411 Alaskan Way, Seattle, WA 98121. Remembrances may be made to your local American Cancer Society.
