HUGHES -- Jack A. Hughes, 77, a resident of Albuquerque for 35 years, died Tuesday, December 9, 2003. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dorothy Hughes of Albuquerque; son, Tommy Hughes and wife, Panda Townsend of Albuquerque, NM; daughter, Janice Moncla and husband, Gary of Beaumont, TX; grandsons, Richard W. Holbert and wife, Jen of Philadelphia, MS, Gary Kidd of Las Cruces, NM, Kerry Moncla and wife, Gail of Houston, TX; granddaughter, Amber Moncla of Dallas, TX; and numerous nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. Jack was preceded in death by brother, Fred Hughes, who died in the Korean War, and sister, Ruby Lowry. He graduated from Austin College and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Jack was the former manager of the Fedway Store and oversaw the construction of the first Dillards store in Albuquerque, he also managed that Dillards store and other department stores in Texas and Kansas before retiring to Albuquerque in 1982. Memorial Services will be held Saturday, 3:30 p.m. at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, with Pastor Rick Donaho, officiating. Interment of cremains will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM.
