CALDWELL -- Greggory Ray Caldwell passed away at his home in Albuquerque on November 13, 2003, at the age of 34. Born in Albuquerque, raised in Santa Fe, he is survived by his mother, Lynda Madrid and husband, Michael; brother, David; all of Santa Fe; aunt and uncle, Joan and George Robbins; of Phoenix, AZ; cousin, Geoffry Robbins of Albuquerque; grandmother, Virginia Robbins; of Memphis, TN; niece, Tasha Caldwell of Albuquerque; his closest confidants, Julie Carrasco and Luis Arias; life-long friend Gerhardt Ackerman; Godson, Angus Brownrigg - all from Albuquerque and of course, Carlos, his fabulous hairless cat; along with too-many-to-name beloved friends. Gregg came to Albuquerque to become one of the city's most sought after stylists. In the 1990's he owned IBEX Hair Salon, later worked for the prestigious Joseph Cozza Salon in San Francisco. Returning to New Mexico he worked at NEUN, then Heart & Soul Salon. This year he moved to CHEZ D'OR Salon & Day Spa. Never one to sit still, Greggory traveled the world and loved to shop, with an exquisite eye for fashion (one of his many passions). He was an active volunteer for many causes and was a key organizer for such benefits as the early Creme de la Do and the Elsa Ross Fashion Shows. His generosity was endless, and he was a fiercely loyal ally. His passing will be felt for a long time in this city - the butterfly effect of someone who touches and affects so many others. Gregg's sardonic wit, memorable laugh and benevolent heart will be terribly missed by all of his family and friends; all those people who loved him deeply. One of his favorite songwriters, Ben Watt from Everything But the Girl put it best in their song Old Friends: "Standing here with my arm around you life's moved on And all its borderlines are being redrawn The winter has come the roads are white Everyone's home late tonight May we stay or will it depend as old friends In the end still old friends" Following cremation, a Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, November 19, 2003 at 4:00 p.m. at French Mortuary - Westside Chapel. In lieu of flowers please consider a memorial contribution to an animal shelter or charity of your choice. French Mortuary 9300 Golf Course Rd. NW (505) 897-0300
