SANCHEZ -- Tranquilino "Kilo" G. Sanchez, 81, a resident of Belen, peacefully passed away at his home on Wednesday, September 24, 2003 surrounded by his loving family. He was a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church and The Knights of Columbus. He proudly served his country with the U.S. Army Air Force during WWII. He retired in 1982 from the AT&SF Railroad after 39 years of outstanding service. Kilo was well-known for the wonderful gardens he grew every year. Also, he bowled for the Romero Funeral Home in the Belen League for many years. He is preceded in death by his parents, Presciliano and Elena Sanchez; and his sister, Erlinda Garcia. Kilo is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Mary Tabet Sanchez; his two daughters, Viola and Regina Sanchez; his two grandsons, Marc and Dale Sanchez; his three sisters, Sesaria "Sessie" Lopez and her husband, Eduardo "Lalo"; Lucinda "Cinda" Romero and her husband, Daniel; Juanita "Jenny" De Anda and her husband, Edward; his brother in law, Joe T. Garcia and his wife, Dolores; his sister-in-laws, Clara Sanchez; Lily B. Tabet; and Mary Lou Cavenee. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. A viewing will be held at Romero Funeral Home on Thursday, September 25, 2003 at 5:30 p.m. with a Rosary following at 6:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 26, 2003 at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. with Father Mark Honhart officiating. Interment will be held at Our Lady of Belen Memorial Gardens. Romero Funeral Home, 609 N. Main St., Belen, NM 87002.
